Julie McDonald Psychology
Julie has been working in the field of psychology since 2004 working with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds. She has a long career providing mental health services to individuals and groups in correctional settings, Victorian Emergency service workers and their families, and individuals with GP referrals through Medicare, working with clients aged 18 years and up with a range of presenting issues. Please note Julie does not work with younger teens or children.
Attending a therapy session and meeting a psychologist for the first time can be uncomfortable. Julie has an understanding of how difficult this can be and makes sure that all new clients are treated with respect and care, working with them to identify the reasons for their referral and creating a plan to assist them moving forward.
Julie’s approach to therapy is client-centred, working in an open, honest and non-judgemental way to develop a positive, supportive and therapeutic relationship.
She has experience working with clients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex Trauma, Grief, Work place stress, Life stage transitions and Mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. Julie draws from a wealth of clinical knowledge and experience and utilises several modern therapeutic techniques including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, with a psychodynamic informed approach.
